Description
Bravecto 250mg (Fluralaner) Chewable Tablet for Dogs 4.5–10 kg
Bravecto 250mg is a single chewable tablet that protects small dogs weighing 4.5 to 10 kg from ticks and fleas for a full 12 weeks. One beef-flavoured chew, given once, does the work of three monthly tablets — which is why it is the tick and flea product most Indian vets recommend for dogs with repeat tick trouble. Its active ingredient is fluralaner 250 mg. Priced at ₹1,650 for one tablet.
What It Is and How It Works
Bravecto is an oral tick and flea treatment from MSD Animal Health (Merck), built around fluralaner, a molecule in the isoxazoline class. Once your dog swallows the chew, fluralaner is absorbed into the bloodstream. When a tick or flea bites, it takes in the fluralaner and its nervous system shuts down — the parasite dies before it can finish feeding or lay eggs. Because the protection works from inside the bloodstream rather than sitting on the coat, it does not wash off at bath time, in the rain, or when your dog swims. That is the single biggest practical advantage over spot-ons and shampoos.
One dose covers 12 weeks against fleas and most ticks — so you dose four times a year instead of twelve, which is why it suits pet parents who forget monthly reminders. Fluralaner is also used by vets against demodectic and sarcoptic mange, so a Bravecto course often does double duty for an itchy, scabby dog.

Which dogs fit the 4.5–10 kg band?
This is the small-breed tablet. Most adult Shih Tzus, Pugs, Lhasa Apsos, Toy Poodles, Indian Spitz and small Beagles sit in the 4.5–10 kg range. Weigh your dog before ordering — a tablet dosed for the wrong weight either under-protects or over-doses. If your dog is a different size, jump to the weight-band table in next Section.
Not the Right Size? Bravecto by Weight Band
Bravecto comes in five weight bands, each a single 12-week chew. Buy the one that matches your dog’s current weight.

Dosage and How to Give Bravecto to Your Dog
Dose: one 250mg tablet for a dog weighing 4.5–10 kg, given once every 12 weeks.
Give with food. Bravecto absorbs best when given with or right after a meal — this matters, so do not give it to a fasted dog.
Offer it as a treat. The chew is beef-flavoured and most dogs take it straight from the hand. If yours is suspicious, tuck it into a small piece of paneer, chicken or a spoon of curd.
Watch them swallow. A tablet spat out behind the sofa is 12 weeks of no protection. Confirm it has gone down.
Do not split or halve the tablet. Dosing is calibrated to the whole tablet for the weight band; half a Bravecto does not give half-protection to a bigger dog, it gives inadequate protection to both. If your dog is between bands, ask your vet.
Set a 12-week reminder the day you dose. The most common reason Bravecto “stops working” is simply that the next dose is overdue.
If your dog vomits within an hour of the dose, the tablet may not have absorbed — call your vet before re-dosing.
🩺 Vet Tip: Bravecto kills on bite, not on contact — so for the first day or two after dosing you may still see live ticks on your dog before they die and drop off. That is the product working, not failing. Do two things the same day you dose: remove any visible ticks by hand, and wash your dog’s bedding hot. Up to 95% of a tick or flea population lives in the environment, not on the dog, so treating the bedding is what actually breaks the cycle.
Missed the 12-Week Dose? What to Do
A few days late? Give the next tablet as soon as you remember, then count 12 weeks forward from that new date.
Weeks late? There is a protection gap — check your dog for ticks, dose now, and reset your reminder. No loading dose is needed.
Never give a second tablet early to “top up” within the 12-week window. One tablet is a full 12-week dose; doubling up raises the risk of side effects without adding protection.
If you have been consistently late every cycle, a monthly product may simply suit your routine better — see the alternatives in Section 9.
Safety Information — Including the Questions People Are Afraid to Ask
Bravecto is one of the most-used and most-studied tick and flea products in the world, and the vast majority of dogs take it with no problem at all. But because two of the most common searches are “is Bravecto safe for senior dogs” and worse, we are going to answer honestly rather than pretend the questions do not exist.
Common side effects
When side effects occur they are usually mild and pass on their own: vomiting, reduced appetite, diarrhoea, lethargy, or increased thirst, most often in the day or two after dosing. Giving the tablet with a full meal reduces the chance of stomach upset.
“Is Bravecto safe? I saw scary stories online.”
Here is the honest, evidence-based position. Fluralaner belongs to the isoxazoline class, and regulators including the US FDA have issued a class-wide advisory noting that these products have, in a small number of dogs, been linked to neurological reactions — muscle tremors, loss of coordination (ataxia), and seizures — occasionally even in dogs with no prior seizure history. This is real, and it is why the advisory exists. It is also uncommon, and reviews continue to find the product safe and effective for the large majority of dogs when used correctly. The sensible response is not fear, it is informed use: know the risk, know which dogs are higher-risk, and talk to your vet. That is what the next two points are for.
Is Bravecto safe for senior dogs?
Age itself is not a contraindication — healthy senior dogs take Bravecto routinely. The thing to check in an older dog is not the years but the organs and history: a senior with a known seizure disorder, neurological disease, or significant liver or kidney compromise should be assessed by a vet first, because those are the genuine risk factors, at any age. For a healthy older dog with no such history, Bravecto is generally appropriate. When in doubt, the free vet consult with your order is the right place to settle it.
Do not give Bravecto if
Your dog is under 6 months of age or under the 4.5 kg minimum for this tablet
Your dog has a history of seizures or neurological disorders — flag this to your vet before dosing; they may choose a different class of product
Your dog has had an allergic or adverse reaction to fluralaner or any isoxazoline (this includes afoxolaner/NexGard, sarolaner/Simparica, lotilaner) before
This is a dog tablet — never give it to a cat. Cat Bravecto is a separate topical formulation
When to call your vet after dosing
Any muscle tremor, wobbliness, stumbling, or a seizure — contact your vet immediately
Facial swelling, hives or difficulty breathing (possible allergic reaction) — urgent
Vomiting or diarrhoea that does not settle within a day or two
Because fluralaner stays in the body for about 12 weeks, tell your vet exactly when you dosed if any reaction appears — it helps them manage it.
Storage and Handling
Store below 30°C in the original blister until use; keep in a dry place away from direct sunlight.
Keep the tablet in its packaging so you can check the batch and expiry — and so a curious dog cannot help itself to the whole strip.
Keep well out of reach of children and other pets.
Do not use past the printed expiry.

Frequently Asked Questions
How fast does Bravecto work on dogs?
Bravecto starts killing fleas within about 2 hours and ticks within about 12 hours of the dose. Both parasites have to bite to be killed, so for a day or two after dosing you may still see live ticks on your dog before they die and drop off — that is the product working, not failing. Full flea and tick control is established within 48 hours.
Is Bravecto good for dogs, and is it safe?
For most dogs, yes — it is one of the most widely used and studied tick and flea products in the world, and the large majority tolerate it with no issue. The honest caveat: fluralaner is in the isoxazoline class, which the FDA has flagged for rare neurological reactions (tremors, ataxia, seizures) in some dogs. It is uncommon, and the sensible approach is informed use — tell your vet if your dog has any seizure or neurological history before dosing.
Can I give my dog half a Bravecto tablet?
No. Bravecto dosing is calibrated to the whole tablet for a specific weight band. Halving a 250mg tablet does not safely cover a smaller dog, and it will not adequately protect a larger one. If your dog sits between two weight bands, or you are trying to make a bigger tablet stretch, ask your vet for the correct band rather than splitting a tablet.
How much Bravecto does my dog need — how do I pick the dose?
By body weight, not by breed name. This 250mg tablet is for dogs weighing 4.5 to 10 kg. Under 4.5 kg needs the 112.5mg tablet; over 10 kg needs the 500mg or higher. Weigh your dog on a scale rather than estimating — the weight-band table in this listing shows every option. Dogs sitting right on a boundary should be confirmed with a vet.
How do I give Bravecto to my dog?
Give it with or right after a meal, since food improves absorption. The chew is beef-flavoured and most dogs take it from the hand; if yours refuses, wrap it in paneer, chicken or a spoon of curd. Watch your dog swallow it, and do not split the tablet. Then set a 12-week reminder for the next dose.
Is Bravecto safe for senior dogs?
Age alone is not a barrier — healthy senior dogs take Bravecto routinely. What matters in an older dog is health history: a senior with a known seizure disorder, neurological disease, or significant liver or kidney problems should be checked by a vet first, as those are the real risk factors. For a healthy older dog, it is generally appropriate. The free vet consult with your order is the place to confirm.
What is the price of Bravecto 250mg / fluralaner 250mg tablet?
The Bravecto 250mg tablet for dogs 4.5–10 kg is ₹1,650 on Supertails (MRP ₹1,875). If the brand premium is your concern, Indian-made fluralaner tablets like Vivaldis Vetecto and Veko Furaline deliver the same molecule at the same 12-week cover for much less — see the alternatives section above.
Can I give this dog tablet to my cat?
No. This is a dog-only tablet, and dog isoxazoline doses are not safe for cats. Bravecto for cats is a completely separate topical (spot-on) formulation dosed for feline weight and metabolism. Never give a dog tablet to a cat — for cats, use a feline-licensed product and confirm with a vet.
Give your small dog 12 weeks of tick and flea protection in one chew — order Bravecto 250mg for dogs 4.5–10 kg at ₹1,650, with a free vet consult to confirm the right dose and your prescription sorted in 10 minutes. Delivered in 24 hours.
