Description

Simparica Trio for Dogs 40–60 kg (Pack of 3 Tablets)

Simparica Trio for 40 to 60 kg dogs is a monthly chewable tablet that protects your giant-breed dog from four parasites at once — ticks, fleas, heartworm and intestinal worms — in a single beef-flavoured chew. This pack of 3 tablets covers three months. For big dogs like Saint Bernards, Great Danes, Mastiffs and large Rottweilers, it replaces a separate tick tablet, a heartworm preventive and a dewormer with one simple monthly dose. It sits within our full dog tick & flea range, and is priced at ₹2,496 for the 3-tablet pack.

What Simparica Trio is and how it works?

Simparica Trio is a 4-in-1 chewable flea and tick tablet for dogs from Zoetis, and one of the most complete options in our tick & flea tablets collection. Most parasite routines mean juggling three products on three schedules; Simparica Trio collapses them into one monthly chew by combining three actives, each doing a specific job.

Active ingredient

What it does

Sarolaner

An isoxazoline that kills ticks and fleas. It enters the bloodstream, so when a parasite bites it dies — nothing to wash off at bath time.

Moxidectin

Prevents heartworm disease (Dirofilaria immitis), the mosquito-borne parasite that is serious and expensive to treat once established.

Pyrantel

Treats and controls intestinal roundworms and hookworms — the same job a standalone dog dewormer does.

Given once a month, it starts killing fleas and ticks quickly and keeps working for the full month. Because it is a monthly chewable flea and tick tablet for large dogs, you can match protection to the season and dose on a date you can remember. It suits giant breeds especially well — one correctly weight-matched chew is far simpler than trying to cover a 55 kg dog with spot-ons or multiple products.

What it covers and what it does not?

In one dose, Simparica Trio handles ticks, fleas, heartworm prevention and intestinal worms. That worm cover matters more than pet parents expect: worms in dogs often show no obvious signs until the infestation is heavy, so built-in monthly control is a real advantage.

What it does not do: Simparica Trio prevents heartworm but does not treat an existing adult heartworm infection. Before starting any heartworm preventive, a large or newly acquired dog should ideally be heartworm-tested, because starting a preventive in an already-infected dog needs veterinary supervision. If you are unsure of your dog’s status, book a free vet consultation before the first dose. It also does not repel mosquitoes or treat mange on its own.

Simparica Trio dosage for large dogs (40–60 kg)

Dosing is by body weight, given once every month. This pack is specifically for dogs weighing 40 to 60 kg — weigh your dog before ordering, since giant-breed weights vary a lot between individuals (our large-breed dog health guide explains why body condition matters for big dogs).

Detail

This pack

For dogs weighing

40 – 60 kg

Dose

One tablet, once a month

Pack

3 tablets = 3 months of protection

Give with or without food

Either works; giving with food helps compliance

Covers

Ticks, fleas, heartworm prevention, roundworms, hookworms

Give one tablet monthly on the same date each month — pick one you will remember.

Make sure the whole tablet is eaten. For a 55 kg dog this is a large dose; if the tablet is dropped or spat out, protection is incomplete. Offer it as a treat and watch it go down.

With or without food is fine, though many pet parents find giving it at mealtime makes it a non-event.

Year-round dosing gives the best heartworm protection, since one missed mosquito season can be enough.

Do not split tablets or combine smaller packs to reach the dose — use the correct 40–60 kg tablet.

🩺 Vet Tip: For a giant-breed dog, the single most useful habit is a fixed monthly “parasite day”. Heartworm prevention only works if it is never skipped, and one forgotten dose in mosquito season can undo a year of protection. On dosing day, it is also worth a quick tick check — our guides on identifying and removing ticks and getting rid of fleas and ticks walk you through it. If you are ever unsure whether a heartworm test is needed before restarting after a gap, the Supertails vet team can confirm in minutes, and the Supertails Clinic can run the test itself.

How to give Simparica Trio to your dog?

Confirm your dog is in the 40–60 kg band — weigh, do not estimate.

Offer the chew directly; most dogs take the beef-flavoured tablet as a treat.

If your dog is fussy, tuck it into a small piece of paneer, chicken or a spoon of curd.

Watch your dog swallow the whole tablet.

Mark the next dose 30 days ahead on your phone or calendar.

What to do if you miss a monthly dose?

Remembered soon after? Give the tablet immediately and resume monthly dosing from that date.

Missed by several weeks? Give it now, but because a gap in heartworm cover matters, mention the gap to a vet. After a long lapse, they may advise a heartworm test before you continue.

Never double up to make up for a missed dose. One tablet is the full monthly dose.

Reset your monthly reminder to the new date so it does not slip again.

Safety information

Simparica Trio is well tolerated by most dogs. When side effects occur they are usually mild — vomiting, diarrhoea, reduced appetite or lethargy, most often shortly after a dose.

A note on the isoxazoline class: sarolaner belongs to the isoxazoline family, which regulators including the US FDA have flagged for rare neurological reactions — muscle tremors, loss of coordination, and seizures — in a small number of dogs, occasionally even without a prior history. It is uncommon, and most dogs are entirely fine, but it is why the points below matter.

Tell your vet before dosing if your dog has any history of seizures or neurological disorders — they may choose a different product.

Heartworm status: dogs should ideally be heartworm-tested before starting a preventive. A vet will tell you whether your dog needs testing first.

Do not use in dogs with a known allergy to sarolaner or other isoxazolines (afoxolaner, fluralaner, lotilaner).

Not for cats — this is a dog-only formulation.

Call your vet immediately if you see tremors, wobbliness or a seizure after dosing, or signs of an allergic reaction such as facial swelling or difficulty breathing.

Storage and handling

Store below 30°C in a dry place, out of direct sunlight.

Keep tablets in the original blister until use, so batch and expiry stay visible and a large dog cannot help itself to the strip.

Keep out of reach of children and other pets.

Do not use past the printed expiry.

Substitutes and alternatives

If you want a different molecule, a longer dosing gap, or ticks-and-fleas only, these are the closest options for large dogs — or browse the full Simparica range and tick & flea tablets.

Alternative

Price

How it differs

Bravecto 1400mg (fluralaner) for 40–56 kg dogs

₹2,232

12-weekly, not monthly — one chew lasts 3 months. Covers ticks and fleas only, not heartworm or worms. Choose it if you handle heartworm separately.

Simparica (sarolaner) for large dogs

From ₹546

The ticks-and-fleas-only version of the same brand — monthly, no heartworm or worm cover. Cheaper if you only need parasite-on-skin protection.

NexGard range (afoxolaner)

Varies

Another monthly all-in-one line covering ticks, fleas, heartworm and worms — the main alternative to Trio if your vet prefers it.

Dog dewormer collection

Varies

If your dog is already on a separate tick tablet and you only need worm control, a standalone dewormer may be all you need.

FAQs

Is Simparica Trio for 40 to 60 kg dogs the right pack for my dog?

This pack is dosed for dogs weighing 40 to 60 kg — giant breeds like Saint Bernards, Great Danes, English Mastiffs and large Rottweilers. Weigh your dog on a scale first, because giant-breed weights vary widely between individuals. If your dog is under 40 kg, choose the 20–40 kg pack from the tick & flea tablets range instead. A Supertails vet can confirm the right band on a free consult if you are unsure.

What does Simparica Trio protect against?

Four things in one monthly chew: ticks, fleas, heartworm disease, and intestinal worms (roundworms and hookworms). It combines sarolaner for ticks and fleas, moxidectin for heartworm prevention, and pyrantel for intestinal worms — the last replacing a separate dog dewormer. That is why it can replace three products with one.

What is the Simparica Trio dosage for large dogs?

One tablet, once a month, matched to your dog’s weight — this pack is the 40–60 kg tablet. Give it with or without food, on the same date each month, and make sure your dog eats the whole tablet. A 3-tablet pack covers three months. For the best heartworm protection, dose year-round rather than only in tick season.

What is the price of Simparica Trio for large dogs in India?

The 40–60 kg pack of 3 tablets is ₹2,496 on Supertails (MRP ₹2,573), which works out to three months of all-in-one protection. Because it covers ticks, fleas, heartworm and worms together, it often costs less than buying those three products separately for a giant-breed dog.

Do I need a heartworm test before starting Simparica Trio?

Ideally, yes, especially for an adult dog whose history you are unsure of. Simparica Trio prevents heartworm but does not treat an established adult infection, and starting a preventive in an already-infected dog needs veterinary supervision. Book a vet consult, or visit the Supertails Clinic for a test, before the first dose if your dog has not been on continuous prevention.

Is Simparica Trio safe? I have read about isoxazoline side effects.

Most dogs tolerate it very well; side effects, when they happen, are usually mild digestive upset. The honest caveat is that sarolaner is an isoxazoline, a class the FDA has flagged for rare neurological reactions such as seizures in some dogs. It is uncommon, but if your dog has any seizure or neurological history, tell your vet before dosing.

Can I give this dog tablet to my cat?

No. Simparica Trio is a dog-only medicine, dosed for canine weight and metabolism. Never give it to a cat. For feline parasite protection, use a cat-licensed product and confirm the right one with a vet.

What if I miss my dog’s monthly dose?

Give it as soon as you remember and resume monthly dosing from that date. Because a gap in heartworm cover matters, if you have missed by several weeks, mention it on a free vet consult — after a longer lapse, your vet may recommend a heartworm test before continuing. Never give two tablets to catch up.
