Material and Construction
The Fabdog Faball Crab Small is built with a cotton fabric outer shell wrapped around a solid TPR (Thermoplastic Rubber) squeaky core. Cotton fabric provides a soft, natural-feel exterior that is gentle on small dog mouths and comfortable for carrying. The TPR core is flexible, non-toxic, and provides light to moderate chewing resistance with a built-in squeaker. The layered construction — soft fabric over a structured rubber core — positions this as a light to moderate-duty durable dog toy that holds up through regular fetch and interactive play while remaining appropriately gentle and lightweight for small breeds.
Texture, Size, and Play Duration Guidance
The cotton fabric outer shell feels soft and inviting, while the inner TPR ball is firm and flexible with a responsive squeaker. At 3″ for the small size, this toy is well-proportioned for small breeds and dogs with a narrower jaw span. Engagement duration will vary — dogs focused on fetch and squeaking will enjoy extended sessions, while dogs who chew more aggressively may work through the fabric layer more quickly. Once the outer shell is removed, the TPR ball continues to function as a standalone fetch and chew toy, extending overall play life.
Play Style and Functional Use
Fetch Toy: The round shape and lightweight build make it easy to throw and retrieve for small dogs. The squeaker adds auditory reward on impact, reinforcing the fetch cycle and keeping dogs engaged across multiple rounds.
Chew Toy: The TPR core provides light to moderate chewing resistance. Best suited for light to moderate chewers — not recommended as a primary chew toy for aggressive chewers.
Plush Toy: The cotton fabric outer shell provides a soft carry and comfort experience. Moderate supervision is recommended while the fabric layer is intact.
Safety, Usage, and Care Guidance
Moderate supervision is recommended, particularly while the cotton fabric outer shell is intact
Inspect the toy regularly — replace if the TPR core shows significant wear or if pieces become detachable
Select the appropriate size for your dog — the small (3″) size is designed for small breeds
Not recommended as a primary toy for aggressive chewers
Store in a clean, dry location when not in use
Cleaning and Maintenance
Spot clean the cotton fabric outer shell with mild soap and warm water. Allow to air dry fully before returning to your dog. Avoid machine washing or high-heat drying methods, as these can damage the cotton shell and compromise the TPR core. Inspect the squeaker function periodically during cleaning.
